Raina MacIntyre

Raina MacIntyre is Professor of Global Biosecurity at the University of New South Wales.   Her book,   Dark Winter: Inside Pandemics and Biosecurity will be published in late 2022.  A dual-specialist physician with a masters and PhD in epidemiology, and  training in shoe-leather investigative epidemiology of outbreaks, she the author or co-author of over 400 scientific publications. She is a leader in emerging infections, bioterrorism, vaccines, and facemasks and a member of  expert committees, including for the WHO. She is the top-ranked researcher in the world on respiratory protective devices, and in the top-five researchers globally  on smallpox  She engages with health, military and police on biosecurity, and has won many awards including the Sir Henry Wellcome Medal and Prize from the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States.
