Suzanne Daniel, a Berry resident, is a novelist -- Allegra in Three Parts is her most recent book -- and journalist who has worked for The Sydney Morning Herald, ABC TV, the United Nations, BBC London and in crisis management and social services.
Allegra in Three Parts won the Indie Book Award for Debut Fiction 2020 and portrays the world through the eyes of an eleven year old girl orbiting the three adult worlds of her father and both grandmothers, all of whom cherish her but can’t stand each other. Deeply researched, it paints a nostalgic and alarming picture of women's lives and feminist activism in the 1970s. ‘Heartwarming...touching...funny...charming...the rise of feminist consciousness in the home is skilfully documented...Daniel's gift for authentic characters and her understanding of the way in which the past is tattooed on the present make this a delightfully thought-provoking romp.’ The Weekend Australian.
Suzanne is currently working on a second novel for Pan Macmillan, an historical fiction based on the birth of urban environmentalism.
