The inaugural Berry Writers Festival, held on the weekend of October 21-23 2022, has been judged by participants a genuine success – in no small measure thanks to the enthusiasm, generosity, and hard work of the Berry community, for which the festival Committee is very grateful.

“Home is where one starts from”, wrote T.S. Eliot.   It can also  be the place from where we flee and for which we long, the place that makes or breaks us, and which is – for good or ill – always in our hearts.  Three noted writers Rick Morton (editor of Growing Up in Country Australia); the poet and author Julie Janson,  a Burruberongal woman of the Darug Aboriginal Nation (Benevolence); and journalist and author Michael Pascoe (The Summertime of Our Dreams)  discuss how the sense of place and the importance of home feature in their books
