About the Festival

Where it Began

The Berry Writers Festival made a triumphant debut in 2022, drawing enthusiastic audiences and positive reviews from participants. We are pleased to announce that the event will now take place bi-annually, with the next festival scheduled for October 25-27, 2024.

The 2022 festival's lineup of events and speakers drew high praise from audiences and writers alike. Novelist Nigel Featherstone described the festival as "fabulous," while Hugh McKay called it a "superb." Acclaimed Author, Craig Silvey praised the warm and engaged reading community in Berry.

We are so grateful to all our attendees and the Berry community for their enthusiasm, generosity, and hard work in making the festival a success. In appreciation, the committee authorised donations to several community organisations, including the Berry Uniting Church, Berry CWA, Berry Rotary, Gerringong Rotary, and the Shoalhaven Education Fund.
