Helena Fox

Helena Fox is an author, poet and creative writing mentor living on Dharawal Country in Wollongong, Australia. Helena founded the Young Writers Program at the South Coast Writers Centre, and she is passionate about helping people of all ages find and speak their voice. Helena’s debut novel, How It Feels to Float, won the Prime Minister’s Literary Award and Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for Writing for Young Adults in 2020. Her second novel, The Quiet and the Loud, won the NSW Literary Awards Ethel Turner Prize in 2024. Helena’s latest novel, Loneliness Is a Molecule, was published by Picador Australia in September 2026. Her poetry and short stories have been published in anthologies, literary journals and online. Helena received her MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College (USA) and she is currently a PhD (Creative Writing) Candidate at Western Sydney University.
