Kate Forsyth

Kate Forsyth is an award-winning author, poet, and oral storyteller. Her novels include The Changeling, set during Scotland’s first witch-hunt; Psykhe, a reimagining of the ancient Greek myth from a feminist perspective; The Crimson Thread, a retelling of the minotaur myth set in Crete during World War II which The Washington Review called ‘a riveting tale of courage, love, and betrayal’; and Bitter Greens, a reimagining of ‘Rapunzel’ which won the American Library Award for Best Historical Fiction. Kate Forsyth’s Long-Lost Fairy Tales, her collection of retold folk tales from around the world, was an Honour Book in the 2025 CBCA awards, and Searching for Charlotte: The Fascinating Story of Australia’s First Children’s Author was longlisted for the 2021 Readings Non-Fiction Prize. Kate has a BA in literature, a MA in creative writing, and a Doctorate of Creative Arts, and is an accredited master storyteller with the Australian Guild of Storytellers.
