While we count down to the 2026 Berry Writers’ Festival, here’s a pair of fascinating literary-themed talks happening in Berry this August—brought to you by @artsnationalshoalhaven .... 7.30pm Thursday 14 August: Toby Faber in Berry The international success of leading London-based publishing house Faber and Faber is in part due to its insistence on good graphic design. In this illustrated talk, Toby Faber, the grandson of the founder of Faber and Faber, will trace the firm’s history through its book illustration and cover designs. The firm has employed some of Britain's most celebrated artists, from Rex Whistler and Barnett Freedman to Peter Blake and Damien Hirst. Toby Faber grew up steeped in its books. He was the Managing Director of Faber and Faber, and is now one of its board members. Toby has also written a novel, Close to the Edge, and three works of narrative history – Stradivarius, Fabergé's Eggs and Faber & Faber: The Untold Story. Of these, only the obvious one was published by Faber & Faber.
