Seumas Miller

Seumas Miller is Professor of Philosophy at the Australian Graduate School of Policing and Security at Charles Sturt University, Canberra, and Distinguished Research Fellow at the Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford. He is the author or coauthor of over 250 academic articles and twenty-two books including The Moral Foundations of Social Institutions (Cambridge University Press, 2010), Shooting to Kill: The Ethics of Police and Military Use of Lethal Force (Oxford University Press, 2016), Institutional Corruption: A Study in Applied Philosophy (Cambridge University Press, 2017), and Cybertechnology, Ethics and Collective Responsibility, with Terry Bossomaier, (Oxford University Press, 2024). He was Foundation Director of the Australian Research Council Special Research Centre in Applied Philosophy and Public Ethics (2000-2007), and Principal Investigator on a European Research Council Advanced Grant on counter-terrorism ethics (2016-2021).
